In eight months from Breda to India and back. Over land and by car, covering as many as 25,000 kilometres. In January we are going to set off in our Landrover to travel a stretch of the age-old Silk Route. We will be crossing Greece, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan to arrive in India in April. Our journey can be followed via this site.In order to make our journey more than a mere personal adventure we intend to raise money for the Stichting Medische Kampen ( the Medical Camps Foundation), a project in the South- Indian city of Tirumvannamalai. This foundation offers medical assistance in places where there are hardly any facilities. With a team of doctors and nurses the foundation travels to remote regions of the Tamil Nadu province to give medical care and information there. In this way they visit several villages annually and are capable of reaching thousands of people.
The money we are going to raise will go to a mobile hospital enabling the foundation to work more efficiently.

Who are we?

Saskia Wijdoogen is a journalist at BN/De Stem, a daily newspaper and Sjef van den Wijngaart works as a geography teacher at the Prisma Graaf Engelbrecht College in Breda. Our vehicle is a Landrover ambulance (for devotees: a Series III from 1973) converted into a camper.
